I wrote a promo introduction for "High Potential" for snowflake_challenge and I'm copying it here so more folks can see it. This show has a good set of awesome female characters. \o/

High Potential

Overview

"High Potential" is a crime dramedy based around Morgan Gillory. She is highly gifted with an IQ of 160, and like many gifted people, most folks refuse to put up with her -- hence "high potential" being a mockery. Average adults don't like smart adults any better than average children like smart children, with predictably bad results. Thus she has wound up working as a cleaning lady at a police station. This leads her to pointing out an error in an investigation, which eventually brings her to work for the police as a civilian consultant.

Why I Love Nimona

I love Nimona.

I love the fact that she's a polymorph who can take any shape. She uses them all with fluid grace and great effect in combat.

I love the fact that she refuses to define herself as more than "Nimona." She won't try to be anything else but what she is. She just wishes other people would accept her for who she really is.

I love how casually destructive and violent she is, especially when it comes to tearing down symbols of the corrupt social order. And she breaks a few things in Ballister that he frankly needs broken. We could use someone like that in local-Earth.

I love how she is wild and fierce and free, a forest spirit even in the city. She brings a breath of fresh air everywhere she goes.

It's not so much one scene as one character, one aspect of Nimona -- that she's chaos incarnate. The trailer really captures that sense; this movie is so, so queer in all the best ways. That's Nimona for you. At least with her, life is never boring.

I grok that.

It's the Civilized Foreigner Come To Help The Benighted Natives who can find the Temple! The Other Civilized Foreigner checking the historical databases for things the Benighted Natives have known for years is the one who notices the blatantly obvious pattern the Benighted Natives have never figured out and Solves The Mystery! The Civilized Foreigners go off (with no native people!) to find The Mystic Treasure! (At least there is some variety, in that the Civilized Foreigners are a black man and a white woman, instead of white men.) And I asked myself: why the HELL is Kira going along with all of this? Why is she just … letting this happen?

I haven't waxed poetic about Supergirl here before - but the show should be right up this comm's alley: loads and loads of awesome female characters: heroes, villains, best friends, sisters, daughters, yes and a lovely lesbian couple: Alex & Maggie.
